Another Christmas post.

I haven't written in such a long time although I can honestly say there's been several things on my heart. I figured what better time, than now?, Christmas day (or should I say night). But more than likely, this will end up "another Christmas post", just like the tweets and facebook status'. Unfortunately, I would feel pretty bummy if I didn't post anything on this day considering just how important it really is, or how important it should be.

My Christmas wasn't any different as it was the previous year, but my attitude certainly was. I was never the type of person to look forward to gifts, music, and food (although I must say, the food was my favorite part), but I also was never the type of person to think about what Christmas means exactly. There's the obvious, "It's Jesus' birthday" (which is another story because He most certainly wasn't born on this day), or "[Jesus] is the reason for the season. (Once again, refer to the last parenthetical statement. Wrong season, people.)" That's all well and good. I'm pretty sure a majority know that, but they take it upon them themselves to abide in consumerism and sick greed. One of my favorite phrases sums up the holiday to a tee, "People are walking around acting like Jesus hasn't done anything for them." Keyword, acting. Because the truth is we all know what Christmas should be about, but we have made it about ourselves. Our actions became so unlike Him. Read Titus 1:16 if you'd like. (What I mean is, "Read it now".)

While watching the church sermon online today, it hit me. Although this is a pagan holiday (or it started off as so) and He wasn't born on the 25th of December, why not celebrate Him and His miraculous birth on a set day! If He hadn't been born Lazarus would have died, if He hadn't been born the woman that bled for 12 years would have continued bleeding, if He hadn't been born Jairus would have lost his daughter, if He hadn't been born men would have continued to be possessed, if He hadn't been born the blind would have never seen, if He hadn't been born the paralyzed would have never danced, if He hadn't been born we would never be saved! As far as I'm concerned, Jesus was, and is, and will continue to be the greatest gift man has ever known! Why ask for anything more! Praise God for the gift of life that I don't deserve! Think about that people! A gift that we don't deserve was given to us because of love! He loved us that much! Man, it blows my mind.

Happy Birthday Jesus. I love you. xoxo
